Jasvinder Sanghera is a hero. She chose a path to become a surviver and help others, rather than stay a victim. May her tribe increase.
When we think of the most horrific acts of violence against women around the world — female genital mutilation, sex slavery, child marriage, honor killings — we tend to picture the Third World. We assume this can happen only in places like Afghanistan, Iran and Somalia, only in countries that don’t have democratic governments or are ruled by religious zealots, only very far away from us. Right?
"I haven't spoken to my wife in years.
I didn't want to interrupt her!"
I found this posted, on a dear male-friend's facebook page.
If most men feel the same way, (I know my husband does!) ...
I couldn't resist posting this cartoon, which could be captioned,
'Man's First Mistake!'
You are never too old for a 'Mommy-Hug':-)))))
I am a profiler and I had to speak to a waterproofing consultant today. This is a sincere, honest, dedicated man with very limited means. When I interview people, typically I go to their homes.
There's a lot you can tell about a person when you study their home. Not just what they can and cannot afford but who they are at the very core of their souls and where they come from. I did not make that up, that part is true.
There I was. 7 months after I defended my PhD in Neuroscience, and still in lab. I had been job hunting this whole time, but only seriously for the last 2 months or so. Despite the uncertainty about my future job, one thing was for sure – I could not remain in academia. It simply was not my thing, and despite having an extremely productive and successful graduate career, I had senioritis to the core.
When a woman says,
"Do whatever you want",
under any circumstances,
do whatever you want!!!
"Like most couples, Daniel Reeves and Bethany Soule fight. Unlike most, they solve their spats with dollars.
It's basic game theory and behavioral economics, just applied to a marriage."
For the non-mushy, keep-it-cool, communicating through text only, Gen Next, with, 'Its Complicated' being the most common relationship status, the sickly sweet, traditional, heart art Valentine's Day Cards, most certainly will not work.!
Check out these modern day, awkward, but real, Valentine's Day cards ...
My son is six. He has a thing he does lately where he puts his wide-open mouth about a tenth of an inch from my nose. Then he just freezes there, panting on my nose. It’s pretty annoying. After the 500th time, I’m just trying not to go ballistic on him. He’s a sweet kid. I love him more than I love my own life. He’s very smart and very thoughtful most of the time. But he does this nose thing because he knows it drives me crazy. He knows its my personal crazy-making thing.
Watch this short film by Éléonore Pourriat. What does sexism feel like directed towards men?
