The Mirror of Beauty by Shamsur Rahman Faruqi is 952 pages long and as it goes with most historical works, the detailed description cannot be avoided. From the intricate and vibrant Kishangarh miniatures to the rich world of carpet weaving in Kashmir and the Mughal era of the 19th century, this book takes the reader on a journey that enthrals and captivates.
I picked up the book because of the appealing cover and the raving reviews it has received from authors such as Orhan Pamuk and Nadeem Aslam.
This 4th novel of Adichie’s is an extremely accomplished piece of writing, and a marvellous discussion of the identities of middle class Nigerian immigrants to America and UK, as well as migrant returnees to Nigeria.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is in a relationship or married, or plans to be in a relationship or marry. It is a practical guide to certain very basic differences in the way men and women think and react to situations. One cannot know these things about the opposite sex, and this book opens your eyes to these differences. It could make a world of difference in how you handle certain "typical" situations in a relationship and when dealing with a member of the opposite sex.

MS is known not just for her music but for what and whom she represented. Even though she was a rebellious young woman who beat all odds to succeed, her identity was constructed to please and appease, says the author. An interesting article that succinctly articulates the limits of being a female household name in India.
An unusually quiet & reflective husband after watching '2 States' ...
Probably wistfully wondering why a pretty, willing Alia Bhatt did not float into his life, during his two year stint at IIM Ahmedabad! More sobering the thought that Chetan Bhagat found her!!!!
