Talking Cranes partners with Stanford University's ICME Women in Data Science Conference

Talking Cranes is very excited to partner with Stanford University's ICME's inaugural Women in Data Science (#WiDS) , a one-day technical conference highlighting the contributions of women to this growing and increasingly innovative scientific field.

According to Margot Gerritsen, Director of ICME, the goals of the conference were to " inspire and educate data scientists regardless of gender, and support women in the field, providing networking and ongoing dialogue opportunities."

I caught up with Maria Roe Roshni on a hot Thursday morning, bonding over the merciless Chennai heat and my desperate need for caffeine.

Roe is a music producer, music arranger and vocalist, whose team works regularly with leading music directors in India, including A.R.Rahman, Anirudh Ravichander, and other top musicians. With a degree from the Berklee School of Music (Boston, MA), Roe began her career in India by teaching at a local music school.

Back in the day when I didn’t need to make final decisions about my life, I could declare to the world “I want to be a doctor” and change that to “I want to be a dancer” the next year; I wanted to become many people - journalist, teacher, writer, designer, researcher, RJ… God knows how many more.
