Ankita Anand has worked as general secretary, National Campaign for People’s Right to Information, editorial assistant, Penguin Books India, and member, People’s Union for Democratic Rights. She is part of a theatre group called Aatish which, mostly through street performances, portrays socio-political issues often marginalized in the mainstream media. As a freelancer she currently writes and edits, and works as the organizing committee member of Samanvay, IHC Indian Languages’ Festival. Her primary interest lies in working for the prevention of violence against women.
Ankita has done her Master’s in English literature from Miranda House, Delhi University, and a film appreciation course from the Film and Television Institute, Pune. Her poetry has been published in journals like The Indian Review of WorldLiterature in English and Labyrinth, and her articles, in Civil Society Magazine and India Today Aspire. She writes in English and Hindi.
